Sprint and airG Launch The Lounges Mobile Community
Three Unique Mobile Communities Now Available in the USA
VANCOUVER, British Columbia - January 24, 2006 – Sprint (NYSE:S) and airG , the global leader in powering mobile communities, announced today the launch of The Lounges on the Sprint mobile network. The Lounges is the first and largest segmented mobile community in North America, where Sprint users across the United States can connect with some of the most fascinating people from around the world in any of three fun social networking lounges – Sports, Latino, and Friends – right on their Sprint PCS VisionSM and Sprint Power VisionSM phones.
“The Lounges is the most feature rich and advanced mobile social networking community in the market today,” said Rachel Agronsky of Sprint. “What makes airG ’s mobile community product so unique and valuable for Sprint is the ability for us to customize the application and segment the community into any number of lounges that appeal to our entire customer base, such as Sports, Latino, and Friends lounges.”
airG will provide an end-to-end mobile social networking solution for The Lounges, starting with three distinct lounges that include features such as instant messaging, photo profiles, presence, user search, and public and private messaging through an intuitive Java user interface. airG will also provide 24x7x365 customer support and monitoring, and fun promotions and contests. The Lounges customers will benefit from immediately communicating with airG ’s established global community network of over 7 million registered users through the Sports Lounge, Latino Lounge, and Friends Lounge.
“We are extremely pleased to be powering the first Java mobile social networking community in North America for Sprint, the first mobile operator to recognize the community interests of its subscribers and focus on delivering relevant high quality content to its end users,” commented Frederick Ghahramani, director, airG . “The great thing about The Lounges is that no matter where they are in the US, Sprint customers can join different themed and localized lounges, and access related mobile content and promotions, which will draw new customers into the community and drive recurring revenues for Sprint.”
The Sports Lounge is for all sports fans looking to chat about their favorite sports teams - be it hockey, football, soccer or tennis; it’s all in the Sports Lounge. The Latino Lounge is a Spanish language community where users can chat in Spanish, and the Friends Lounge is a general discussion community where users can make new friends, flirt and maybe even find a date.
The Lounges are available for free for a limited time to all Sprint customers with wireless web or Java-enabled mobile handsets. To access The Lounges Sprint customers can go to the Chat Messaging, En Espanol, and Sports sections of the Sprint PCS VisionSM and Sprint Power VisionSM services.
