airG Named One of Canada's Top Employers for Young People for 2010
airG is Recognized as One of Canada's Employers that Lead the Nation in Attracting and Retaining Younger Employees
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – June 2, 2010 – airG, the global leader in powering mobile communities and wireless social networking, was named one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People for 2010. First published in 2001, the Canada's Top Employers for Young People competition is organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the employers that offer the nation's best benefits for younger workers. The employers on this list are Canada's leaders in attracting and retaining younger employees to their organizations. Before 2007, this competition was published annually as an appendix to the Canada's Top 100 Employers paperback.
"We are very honored to be recognized on the list of Canada's Top Employers for Young People." said Lorie Corcuera, Director, Human Resources, airG Inc. "We believe attracting, developing and retaining young talent has been an integral part of airG's success and we are proud to have a culture that encourages innovation and learning. Our team's strength is due to having a diverse mix of young and seasoned talent, and creating a dynamic environment for our team to grow."
Each employer is evaluated by the Mediacorp editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers in terms of the programs they have to attract and retain younger workers. These include benefits such as tuition assistance and the availability of co-op or work-study programs. Our editors also examine each employer's mentorship and training programs, including benefits such as bonuses paid when employees complete certain courses or professional designations. They also review each employer's career management program, looking for initiatives — such as company-wide skills inventories — that can assist younger workers to advance faster in the organization. Lastly, the editors also look at the average age of employees at each employer to better understand the composition and profile of their workforce.
